Coupons – Never Leave Home Without Them (Part 2)

In my last post I shared a story about my grandparents quarreling over a 35 cents coupon. Although it was quite hilarious to me, I felt my grandmother's pain. If I left my coupon at home, I would have left the item on the shelf until next time. In fact, I have actually left the grocery store after having my groceries rung up to go home and get my forgotten coupons. To me, it was worth every penny of savings.

Now, I'd like to share a few of my most recent savings. My first stop for the day was Giant. I purchased 13 items for a total of $29.61 prior to savings card and coupons. After savings card and coupons, my bill was $9.86 for a total savings of $10.04. Here are a few of my awesome savings at Giant:

Yoplait Delights 4 pack

Regular price – $2.99

Sale price – 2 for $5.00 (purchased 2)

Minus $2.00 (2 x $1.00 off coupon)

Final price = $3.00

Total savings of $2.98

 

Gulden Mustard

Regular price – $1.79

Sale price – $1.00 (purchased 2)

Final price = $1.00

Total savings of $2.58

 

Ocean Spray Blueberry Juice

Regular price – $3.19

Sale price – $2.00

Minus $1.10 ($0.55 coupon doubled)

Total savings = $2.29

 

Kellogg's Cereal

Regular price – $9.87 (for my three boxes)

Sale price – 3 for $5.00

Minus $1.25 coupon for 2 boxes of cereal

Minus $1.00 coupon for 1 box of cereal

Final price = $2.75 (for three boxes of cereal)

Total savings = $7.12

 

The next stop on my list was Safeway. This was where I did most of my shopping for the day. I spent a total of $55.28 for $150.31 worth of groceries. That's a total savings of $95.03. Here are a few of the items:

Reynold's Wrap

Oscar Meyer Hot Dogs

Final price = $1.99 for three packs of hot dogs

Total savings of $9.98

 

My final stop for the day was Food Lion. I only picked up a few items, but the savings was definitely worth stopping for. My total before savings card and coupons was $42.94. After savings card and coupons, I spent a total of $20.11 for a total savings of $22.83. Here are a few:

Total savings = $4.58

In all, I purchased $222.86 worth of groceries for $85.25. I saved myself…and my Hubby ;) a whopping $137.61.

Sure, coupon clipping and organizing is very time consuming, but the savings are totally worth the effort. While I've been a coupon clipper since I was in my early twenties, I hardly consider myself to be a pro or a "Coupon Queen", however, I do know of a few fellow bloggers who are.
