Have you ever found yourself in a sticky situation with chewing gum? First, try to remove as much of the gum as possible; as soon as possible. Then, try one of the following methods:
1. Place clothing in freezer, or freeze the gum with ice cubes. Then pull gum off.
2. Rub full-strength vinegar onto the gum.
3. Cover with egg white; loosen the gum.
I don't know about you, but I like to save my old toothbrushes. Instead of throwing them out, I clean them by running them through a cycle in the dishwasher. Once cleaned, they make the best handy little helpers for many things around my home. Here is a list of my ten favorite uses:
1. Clean cheese graters and garlic presses
2. Scrub shower tracks and in between tiles
3. Scrub away dust and dirt along baseboards

To get rid of mildew on clothing, make a pasty mixture of lemon juice and salt. Rub the paste on the mildew area of the garment and then sit it out to dry in direct sunlight. Repeat the process until the mildew is gone. Once the mildew stain is gone, wash as normal. Just remember the faster you can catch mildew, the better and easier it will be to treat.
Every time I walk into my son’s room, it brings back old memories. Not because his room is decked out with sentimental hand-me-downs from his grandparents or great-grands or memoirs from past family reunions, but because the stinky smell reminds me of the locker room from my high school days. Don’t you just hate squeaky doors? Aside from alerting me when my teenage son tries to sneak in the house past his curfew, they serve no other purpose other than to drive me nuts. To tame that irritating door, pour some olive or vegetable oil on a cotton ball and thoroughly wipe the door hinges.
This neat little trick can also be used on car door hinges too.

Put away your harsh chemical sprays and save your elbow grease! The only thing you will need for this quick and easy microwave cleaning tip is a glass Pyrex dish or other microwave safe bowl or container and tap water.
Fill a microwavable glass dish with 1 ½ cups of tap water. Place dish in microwave and cook on high for 2-3 minutes. This will create a great deal of steam. Let the dish sit in …continue reading
At one point in my life, I was a Carpet Fresh addict. I especially loved the Country Bouquet and Clean Linen scents. That is until I had a Rainbow Vacuum cleaner sales representative come over and do a demonstration on my carpet. She immediately knew that I had been using powdered carpet deodorizers. She informed me that other than making my house smell nice, they served no purpose. She also explained how they may contribute …continue reading

Dust happens and some things tend to go unnoticed! Your lampshade is probably one of them. Just by sitting there, used or not, they get dusty. Let the light shine through by using this quick tip.
Grab yourself a baby brush or a soft bristled paintbrush, take the lampshade off, take it outside, and start brushing using downward strokes. This sweeps the dust off your lampshade very easily without causing damage.
